CAFÉ RACER FESTIVAL: MYTHICAL CIRCUIT AND ICONIC MOTORCYCLES
For 10 years, the Cafe Racer Festival at the Linas-Montlhéry Autodrome has brought together lovers of fine motorcycles, enthusiasts of motorcycle preparation and enthusiasts of this unique culture.
WHAT IS "CAFÉ RACER" CULTURE?
Its origins date back to the 60s in Great Britain, initiated by certain groups of motorcyclists such as The Rockers and The Ton Up Club, to name but a few. These bikers were looking for fast, distinctive, stripped-back motorbikes to cruise the newly-built motorways of England and the surrounding urban areas, linking café after café.
The term "racer" incorporates the concept of "race". The aim of these machines was to quickly reach a specific point from a starting café, then return before a song could be played in full on the jukebox, hence the name "CAFÉ Racer". To create a "café racer", they eliminated all superfluous comforts. The bikes featured single-seater saddles and low, straight handlebars mounted directly on the forks for more precise control. Unnecessary parts were eliminated in favour of raw aluminium.
Thus was born the concept of the Café Racer!
A WAY OF LIFE, A STATE OF MIND FOR UNRIVALLED RIDING PLEASURE
Riding a Café Racer means riding differently. Gone are the days of boring, conventional production bikes. Cafra enthusiasts advocate a return to the original sensations of motorcycling. A Café Racer has a soul, a personality of its own that every rider will enjoy experiencing. Above all, these riders are looking for the thrill of the ride. These highly personalised bikes are a way of asserting their style and their passion for motorcycling.
And to be in perfect harmony with their bikes and express their temperament, these Café Racer bikers pay attention to their looks.
It's a way of life and a state of mind that only stylish, protective equipment can highlight.
THE CAFÉ RACER FESTIVAL
Established in 2013, this motorbike event has always taken place on the legendary Linas-Montlhéry circuit. It's a great place to showcase the Café Racer culture and its values.
Alongside the motorbike tuners, SEGURA exhibited its collections in keeping with the spirit of custom culture. Protective and stylish equipment for bikers who are eager for thrills and want to assert their originality.
The SEGURA stand reflected the spirit of this motorbike culture, which is above all a lifestyle in its own right. A lively stand where visitors to the Café Racer Festival are welcomed by the SEGURA teams for a privileged exchange.
Between 2 sounds from the DJ and a snack with us, you were able to discover the goldsmith's work of our partner Lo's pinstrip, a tattooist specialising in 'pinstriping', very much in vogue in the 'Kustom Kulture'. The art of applying a very thin line of paint is known as 'pin stripping'. Not only was he on hand at the event to demonstrate his skills on helmets, he was also involved in the design of several jackets, including the SUBOTAÏ, which features a removable lining with a very 'manga' look.
The bikers present were also able to talk to our ambassadors about their passion for motorbikes, their preparations and their style. It was a simple, friendly occasion that embodied the very spirit of the Café Racer culture.
